Fabrizio Di Pietrantonio
2007

This catalogue, edited by Fabrizio Di Pierantonio, shows reproductions of a series of instruments constructed by members of the Tuscan Violin Makers’ Association (www.liuteriatoscana.org) in occasion of the “Homage” to Andrea Amati. The initiative took place on occasion of the Exhibition on the Opera Omnia of Andrea Amati for the court of king Carl IX of France, exposed in the Civic Museum of Cremona “Ala Ponzone”- Palazzo Affiatati – 5th -6th -7th October 2007.

This volume, showing the work of tuscan contemporary violin and bow makers, is offered in homage for those who buy the volume on the Tuscan violin makers of the 20th century.

Given the scarcity of historical documentation and photography on Tuscan violin making, we thought of trying to fill this emptiness by promoting a group research, using the contacts we had with different people and experts, starting form the 20th century but including also some authors active already in the 19th century.
